Juvenile Trial Watch – Warwick Farm

Tara Madgwick - Monday December 8

There were just two heats for juveniles at Warwick Farm on Monday morning and both were won by Bjorn Baker trained youngsters with one of them the highest priced Australian sold yearling by first season sire Sword of State.

Two year-old Sword of State colt Warwoven was given a good education by Rachel King in his first appearance. He jumped fairly and then settled midfield before working home strongly when angled into the clear to win by nearly two lengths .

A $380,000 Magic Millions purchase from Kia Ora, Warwoven is the first foal of Group II winner Needle and Thread, who comes from an elite European female packed with quality stayers, so this guy has a real mix of Aussie speed and stamina on the page.

By the same sire as stable star Stefi Magnetica, All Too Hard filly Modernist was having her second trial following a fifth placing at the start of spring. She looked fast and professional this time, leading all the way to win by more than a length and running quicker time than the colt.

Passed in at Magic Millions and retained by Cressfield, Modernist is the first foal from Modernity, a winning half-sister by Foxwedge to Group I winner Onemorenomore from Group II winner Palia.
