Top bets from Brad Waters for Saturday August 12

Brad Waters - Saturday August 12

A small profit eventuated at Flemington last Saturday but we'll be out to parlay that into a much bigger return at the same track this week.

CONFLUENCE (FLEMINGTON - Race 1 No 2)

I was on him at much bigger odds at Caulfield last time out and he did a pretty good job when racing wide and punching into a stiff headwind. He was beaten 2 ¼ lengths on that occasion but stamped himself as a handy colt worth following again. He will race on his home track for the first time and stays at 1400m for this, which will suit him. He's shaping as though he will get a much easier run here and should go close to opening his winning account here.

SUPER HAZE (Flemington – Race 2 No 4)

Looking for an early double strike with Super Haze in the second race of the Flemington card. The Irish-bred son of High Chaparral was too good for his opposition when coming from off the pace in the banjo Paterson Series Final over 2600m at this track last time out. He will go into Saturday's race with a month between runs but fitness won't be an issue for the Tony McEvoy-trained galloper after Super Haze ran two 2600m races in a week early last month. The break would simply have been to give him time to get over the quick back-up and Super Haze will be hard to hold out again.
