Juvenile Trial Watch – Warwick Farm

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday November 25

Just the two heats for juveniles at Warwick Farm on Tuesday morning and we saw winners by first season sire Home Affairs and the reigning champion sire Zoustar.

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Home Affairs filly Home Invasion won at the official trials earlier this spring and then finished fifth in the Group III ATC Gimcrack Stakes behind her stablemate Shiki.

She was having her first outing since then and looked sharp and professional for Rachel King leading all the way to win under a hold by more than a length over Too Darn Hot (GB) filly Normans Cay, who was ridden along to keep up at her first trial.

She comes from the golden nursery of Segenhoe Stud and was a $220,000 Magic Millions purchase for Darby, so will no doubt have designs on the Gold Coast in January as will her close relation Incognito, who won the Group III ATC Breeders’ Plate.

Segenhoe will offer a half-sister by Anamoe from Catwalk to Home Invasion at MM 2026 as Lot 155. Catwalk is a half-sister by Foxwedge to the dam of Incognito.

The second heat was run in slower time with Zoustar colt Peyton winning in the Rosemont Stud colours for the John O’Shea and Tom Charlton stable. He showed natural pace to go forward and lead on the fence and when shaken up was happy to go a bit quicker.

He scored by half a length over his stablemate Over the Mountain, a Savabeel colt bred for speed on his female side being from stakes-winning I Am Invincible mare Evalina.

Third placed Lafite, is a flashy chestnut full brother to Group I winner Schwarz, so there was a bit to take in for this trial.

Peyton was passed in at Magic Millions and retained by Rosemont and is the first foal of slick Group III winning juvenile Mildred, who was bought by Rosemont from the Inglis Chairman’s Sale for $850,000 in 2021.
