Star Thoroughbreds Durazzo Wins Listed Tassie Newmarket

Tara Madgwick - Saturday November 22

Five year-old Needs Further gelding Durazzo has a brilliant strike rate and added a new Black Type win to his resume at Launceston on Friday night when taking out the $150,000 Listed Newmarket Handicap (1200m).

Sporting the Star Thoroughbreds colours, the Barry Campbell prepared Durazzo was looking to improve off his first up second placing at Hobart earlier this month and was sent off as favourite with 59kg.

Ridden by Kelvin Sanderson, Durazzo finished with a well timed run to win by three-quarters of a length taking his overall record to nine wins and two seconds from 13 starts with earnings in excess of $423,000.

Sanderson knows Durazzo so well and has won seven races on him.
