Godolphin Colts Rule Flemington – Pedigree Watch

Tara Madgwick - Sunday November 2

Godolphin have an exceptional crop of three year-olds and two of their exceptional colts landed valuable G1 prizes at Flemingto on Saturday over distances of 1200m and 2500m.

They have already enjoyed G1 success this spring with the colts Attica (Lonhro) and Beiwacht (Bivouac) and now they have two more G1 winning colts.

The $2million Group I VRC Victoria Derby (2500m) went the way of Observer,  read about him here.

Observer is from the first Australian crop of 2020 European Horse of the Year Ghaiyyath (IRE) and is his first G1 winner anywhere in the world.

He is also the 6th Group I winner for Lonhro as a broodmare sire being from a full sister to Champion 2YO Pierro, also a champion G1 sire of classic winners. Plenty of stamina in this Euro female family and a 4 x 4 double cross of Sadler’s Wells certainly helpful in that regard.

He is the 11th G1 winner for Street Boss and is the 17th for champion sire Exceed and Excel, who also sired the dam of G1 Breeders’ Cup Turf Juvenile winner Gstaad. The Street Boss x Exceed and Excel nick is a good one producing 38 winners from 53 starters including seven SW’s at 13% SW to runner.

Tentyris is a grand-son of champion mare Divine Madonna, who won four G1 races, two of them at Flemington over 1600m in the Myer Classic (Empire Rose) and Emirates Stakes (Cantala).
