When So You Think filly Getta Good Feeling won the Group II VRC Edward Manifold Stakes at Flemington last month her trainer Danny O’Brien immediately announced her as an Oaks contender and that plan took another step towards fruition on Saturday.

Lining up as a red hot favourite in the $300,000 Group II VRC Wakeful Stakes (2000m), Getta Good Feeling was ridden a confident race by Mark Zahra to stalk the leader and duly cruised home to win with ease over Strictly Business (Grunt) and Voting Rights (Snitzel).
She heads next to the Group I VRC Oaks on Thursday run over 2500m and will again start a short priced favourite.
“She's a very nice horse to ride. She flew the start and then we got a sit just outside the leader at a moderate tempo and she relaxed really well. She stargazed pretty much all the way up the straight,” Mark Zahra said.
“She did it effortlessly!”

Getta Good Feeling was a $525,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Milburn Creek draft for Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock and runs for Jonathan Munz’s Pinecliff Racing.
She was a successful pinhook having been bought for $400,000 at the Magic Millions National Sale from the Phoenix Broodmare Farm by Suman Hedge Bloodstock.
Getta Good Feeling is yet to miss a place in six starts with two wins and four placings plus earnings topping $500,000.
Getta Good Feeling is a three-quarter sister to Group III winner Elliptical and is the best of four winners from four foals to race from Marquise da Rossa, a winning Testa Rossa mare from the family of Golden Slipper winner Marauding.
Marquise da Rossa was bought by Yulong for $675,000 at the 2023 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale and has a yearling filly by Alabama Express and slipped last spring to Pierata.
Getta Good Feeling is a star on the rise for the late great So You Think, who passed away just before this year’s Cox Plate.
