One To Watch – Wyong

Dane Squance - Thursday October 30

With her half-brother Private Eye set to line up in Saturday's $3m ATC Russell Balding Stakes (1300m) at Randwick, 3yo Shalaa (IRE) filly Confidentiality broke her maiden on Thursday at Wyong at just her second start for trainer Joe Pride.

Having made her debut recently at Hawkesbury off the back of some handy trial form, Confidentiality finished third behind the Chris Waller trained Triple Play.

Stepping up to 1100m on Thursday, Confidentiality flew the gates under Jay Ford, going forward to lead from the Gary Portelli trained Jaegers, with race favourite Artgirl travelling in fourth of the five runners.

As the field headed towards the home turn and Confidentiality still had the lead, Artgirl was coming up three wide to commence her challenge.

With Confidentiality kicking strongly, Ford got the best out of the filly late, winning by a narrow margin from Jaegers, with Artgirl battling on for third after wobbling around the home turn.

Passed in shy of her $500,000 reserve at the Inglis Easter yearling sale, the filly was retained to race by her breeder, Goodwood Farm’s Kerrie Tibbey and partners.

Confidentiality Was Passed In Shy of Her $500,000 Reserve At Inglis Easter

Confidentiality is the fifth winner from five to the races out of the Shamardal mare Confidential Queen, who Tibbey had managed to secure for just $13,000 from the draft of Widden Stud at the 2015 Inglis Broodmare Sale carrying a positive to Star Witness.

From the same family as mutliple Champion Sire Snitzel, Group 1 Epsom Handicap winner Rediener, and recent Group 1 Thousand Guineas winner Ole Dancer, Confidential Queen foaled a filly by Darley’s Champion Anamoe last season which is sure to be highly regarded if she heads to the 2026 yearling sales.

Confidential Queen went back to Anamoe the following season, with the mare set to foal any day now.

Woodside Park Stud's Shalaa (IRE) Looks To Have Another Promising Runner

Confidentiality is another promising runner for Woodside Park Stud’s Invincible Spirit stallion Shalaa who is standing this season for a fee of $19,800 (inc. GST).

Already the sire of 20 individual stakes winners, it could be a good weekend for Shalaa who will be represented by the Australian-bred, Japanese raced Group 3 winner Invincible Papa who contests the Group 1 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (5f) this weekend at Del Mar, California.
