Pedigree Watch - Powerhouse Godolphin 3YOs Dominate

Tara Madgwick - Sunday October 26

The current crop of three year-olds running for Godolphin lay claim to being the best they have ever produced in Australia and three of those colts won Group races in Australia on Saturday so let’s take a look at those pedigrees.

On Saturday, we saw Attica (Lonhro)win the Group I ATC Spring Champion Stakes (2000m), Observer (Ghaiyyath (IRE)win the Group II MVRC Vase (2040m) and Ohope (I Am Invincible) win the Group II ATC Callander Presnell (1600m) , while waiting in the wings for Flemington are gun sprinting colts Beiwacht (Bivouac) and Tentyris (Street Boss (USA) , plus the filly Tempted (Street Boss (USA), who beat all bar Ka Ying Rising in the $20million the Everest.

That’s quite a selection of three year-olds to be bred from one farm and they are nearly all by different stallions.

Observer is the eighth SW for European Horse of the Year Ghaiyyath (IRE) and is his third in Australia joining Yum and Freedom Flame.

He’s a half-brother to G3 winner Sandpaper and his dam Smooth is a full sister to Pierro, who was the Champion Australian 2YO, but as a sire has proven to have quite the classic influence as his overall pedigree always suggested.

Ohope is the 122nd stakes-winner for I Am Invincible and is from a daughter of champion Darley shuttler Medaglia D’Oro (USA), who was a regular at Darley NSW for eight seasons starting in 2010.

There have been three winners from just five runners bred on this nick and one of those winners is multiple Group winning sprinter I Am Me.

Family is packed with Group and Listed winners including dual Group I winner and sire Star Witness.
