Ones to Watch – Snitzel

Tara Madgwick - Sunday May 13
Two blue-blooded Snitzel three year-olds, a colt and a filly, broke the ice on Sunday at Bairnsdale and Gawler.

True Myth as a yearlingSpendthrift Thoroughbreds would be well pleased with the win of promising colt True Myth, who scored easily as favourite at Bairnsdale.

Trained by Mick Price, True Myth was unlucky when beaten into second place at his first two starts last month when nothing went his way.

This time around, he bounded straight to the front and made light work of the heavy ground to win the 1200 metre maiden by a couple of lengths as a short priced favourite.

A $750,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Spendthrift from the Highgrove stud draft, True Myth is a three-quarter brother to Group II winner Attention and Group II placed Flamboyant Lass and is the third winner from Flamboyance.

Highgrove Stud sold the full sister to True Myth at Inglis Easter this year for $625,000 to Steve Morley/ Glenlogan Park.

At Gawler, Phillip Stokes produced Arrowfield Stud's regally bred filly Maracas to score by a length over 1100 metres at her second start.

Maracas is the last foal of celebrated Arrowfield producer La Bamba, who has been retired from stud duties.

Maracas is the tenth winner for Last Tycoon (IRE) mare La Bamba who has given us Group I winners Wandjina and Inspiration as well as stakes-winners Lucky Unicorn and Provence, the dam of stakes-winners My Admiration and Banaadeer.

Maracas might not be a superstar as a racehorse, but she doesn't have to be! With a pedigree like hers, Maracas will be a valuable addition to the Arrowfield broodmare band.
