Hot Lots Day 1 - Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1

The Tattersalls October Yearling Sale (October 7 – 9) kicks off tonight our time and for those interested in the number one  yearling sale in Europe we are taking a look at some of the yearlings tipped to top each day and they include a colt from an Aussie G1 winner.

All the leading sires have representation during the first session of 179 lots including the late great Wootton Bassett, who will have 10 yearlings offered at the sale tonight and the mighty Frankel, who had a Group I winner in Australia on Saturday in Sir Delius (IRE).

Frankel has seven on offer tonight and they include Lot 86 from Tweenhills, a colt from two time Australian Group I winner Con Te Partiro(USA).

The talented daughter of Scat Daddy raced in Australia in the Newgate colours and won the Group I ATC Coolmore Classic and Queen of the Turf Stakes for the Waterhouse Bott stable.

This Frankel colt is her third foal.

Another yearling to be offered tonight with an Aussie connection is Lot 54 from the Castlebridge Consignment, a St Marks’s Basilica colt from Australian bred Group III winning Exceed and Excel mare Believe ‘n’ Succeed.

Believe ‘n’ Succeed has done a great job at stud producing five winners from six runners headed by Epsom Derby winner Anthony Van Dyk and Bounding, who won a Group I sprint in New Zealand.

Lot 71 Colt Dubawi x Cabaret, by Galileo – Norelands Stud

Half-brother to a couple of multiple Group I winners in Magna Grecia and more importantly St Mark’s Basilica, who was the 2021 European Horse of the Year and is now a G1 producing sire.

St Mark’s Basilica sold for 1.3million guineas at this sale and this colt might sail straight past that mark!

Lot 157 Colt Dark Angel x Futoon, by Kodiac – Grangemore Stud

Full brother to the 2024 European Champion Miler Charyn and also Group II winner Wings of War. The full sister to this colt sold for 2.9million guineas at this sale in 2024.

Lot 166 Filly Dubawi x God Given, by Nathaniel – Whatton Manor Stud

Half-sister to multiple Group II winner Silver Knott from Group I winner God Given. The full brother to this filly sold for 1.5million guineas at this sale in 2022.
