Tara Madgwick - Friday September 5

The John O’Shea and Tom Charlton stable have been running hot into spring and unleashed a talented Wootton Bassett (GB) colt at Wyong on Friday that bolted in to win by nearly five lengths.

Napoleonic showed promise in his first preparation when chasing home King of Pop at Warwick Farm and then Next Jen at Newcastle with two recent trials indicating he had come back better than ever.

Ridden by James McDonald and sent out favourite for the 1200m maiden, Napoleonic showed an impressive burst of acceleration when dropping his rivals cold after turning for home.

He charged to the line to win by daylight with McDonald briefly looking back to see where the others had gone!

A $360,000 Inglis Easter purchase from Widden Stud for Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock, Napoleonic runs for Jonathan Munz’s Pinecliff Racing and is a half-brother to Group III winner Ready Set Sail and stakes-placed Set the Sails.

He is the seventh winner from seven foals to race from Jolie Brise, a winning Fastnet Rock daughter of Group III winner Vestey.

Wootton Bassett is back in Australia at Coolmore this spring at a fee of $385,000.
