Invincible Colt Wins on Debut

Tara Madgwick - Sunday August 31

The Michael Freedman stable have been patient with good looking I Am Invincible colt Transgress and with the first good track at a provincial meeting for quite some time at Wyong on Sunday they decided to unleash Transgress and were well rewarded.

Transgress had had three barrier trials in the past few months over the winter and all of them were on wet tracks so it was hard to gauge what he might have to offer on race day.

Sent out in the 1200m maiden with Keagan Latham to ride, Transgress looked a class above in the yard and produced talent to match his appearance.

He worked forward to sit outside the leader and when asked to hit the line he powered clear to win by more than a length with ears pricked.

Transgress was a $650,000 Inglis Easter purchase.

A $650,000 Inglis easter purchase for Michael Freedman Racing / Michael Wallace Bloodstock, Transgress runs for a big syndicate of investors that include the colt’s breeders Yarraman Park and Gall Bloodstock as well as studs such as Widden and Torryburn.

Transgress is the second winner from stakes-placed Exceed and Excel mare Overstep, who is married to I Am Invincible.

Yarraman sold an I Am Invincible filly from Overstep at Magic Millions this year for $400,000 to Star Thoroughbreds/ Randwick Bloodstock and she has a yearling colt to follow.
