The second session of the Arqana Deauville August Yearling Sale on Sunday produced a sale ring battle between MV Magnier and Amo Racing over a colt by Woottton Bassett from High Celebrity with Coolmore winning out with a final bid of €2.3million.
Bred by Jean-Philippe Dubois and consigned by Haras des Capucines for Haras de Fresneaux, the colt is from Group III winning Invincible Spirit mare High Celebrity, who has produced four winners, two of them stakes-placed.
He was knocked down to MV Magnier/ White Birch Farm
“He’s a lovely horse and Wootton Bassett is doing very well,” said Magnier.
“We had his brother in Ballydoyle and he was nearly a very good horse. All the guys really liked this fella and Wootton Bassett is flying at the moment. In fairness to Mr Dubois and everyone involved, they’ve always been a big supporter of ours and are very good breeders. Michel Zerolo [Capucines director] was always praising this horse a lot, so let’s hope he’s good.”
