$1.25 Million Invincible Filly to Waller Racing

Tara Madgwick - Friday January 16

Champion sire I Am invincible has produced a filly to sell for a million or more on each of the three days of Magic Millions so far and he did it again on Friday when the Coolmore consigned filly from Qafila fetched $1.25million.

$1.25 million I Am Invincible mare from Qafila.

A stylish bay that is reminiscent of her Group I winning dam, she was purchased by Waller Racing/Mulcaster Bloodstock and is the fourth foal of Qafila, who was a juvenile stakes-winner at 1000m and then trained on the win the Group I SA Derby over 2500m.

“I think the thing that really got our attention was the fact she (Qafila) was so versatile,” said Guy Mulcaster.

“I think she ran in the first two-year-old race and ended up winning the SA Derby, so we’ve got a few different paths we can take with her.

“We always thought she was just an athlete. She’s beautiful and has come off a great farm.

“We actually really thought we were going to struggle to buy her, but it’s ended up all right for us.”

Qafila was sold for $2million at the 2021 MM Shadwell Dispersal.

By champion sire Not a Single Doubt, Qafila was a Magic Millions yearling back in 2017 when she was bought by Shadwell for $450,000.

At the conclusion of her racing career she was offered in the Shadwell Dispersal at the Gold Coast in 2021 where she made $2million to the bid of Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock for a partnership that includes Jonathan Munz and Coolmore.

Qafila had a colt by Zoustar last spring and was then covered again by I Am Invincible and her unraced two year-old filly by I Am Invincible has been retained. Named Full Confidence, she is prepared by Tony and Calvin McEvoy.
