Pierro Winner in South Africa

Australia's leading second season sire Pierro featured with a winner in South Africa on Sunday with Don Pierro saluting at Scottsville.

PierroTrained by Gary Rich, Don Pierro improved at his third start to win by a long neck over 1600 metres.

Bred and sold by Waratah Thoroughbreds, Don Pierro was a $65,000 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale purchase for Adrian Van Vuuren.

Don Pierro is a half-brother to Group placed Roman Soldier and Telopea from stakes-winning Sadler's Wells mare Fermion (IRE).

Making it an Aussie bred winning double in the next race was Alshibaah (3g Street Cry (IRE) x Alsheerah), a homebred for Shadwell that has won three of nine starts.
