Mossman’s Rising Star Ivictory Wins The Chairman’s Sprint

Mark Smith - Sunday April 29

Not unexpectedly, John Size-trained runners singled out to go 1-2-3 in Sunday's Group 1 The Chairman's Sprint (1200m) at Sha Tin and it was left to punters to put them in the right order.

Under a majestic ride by Zac Purton, it was Mossman's up and coming son Ivictory who took his record to seven wins from eight starts with a half-length victory over Mr Stunning with Beat The Clock a neck back in third. (photo Grant Courtney ).

"I've been lucky enough to sit on him twice, once in a barrier trial, but until they are put under pressure at this level on race-day you never really know how they will handle it," Purton said.

"But he gave every sign he would, and he did."

Purchased by Aquanita Racing for $80,000 from the Fig Tree Thoroughbreds draft at the 2015 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Ivictory is the first foal of the unraced Hussonet mare Inca Lagoon who is out of Danehill's Group II-placed daughter Tyrolean.

A half-sister to dual Group 1 winner Yippyio and to Written Tycoon's Group II Silver Slipper winning sire Iglesia, Tyrolean was sold for just $6,000 at the 2016 Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale when carrying a Star Witness colt who was knocked down to Kristen Buchanan Racing $55,000 at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

Inca Tycoon has a weanling colt by Reset and was covered by Dissident last spring.

After covering just three mares last season, Vinery Stud's hugely popular stallion Mossman has come to the end of his hugely successful career and has not been named on the Vinery roster this year.

Ivictory becomes his sixth Group 1 winner.
