In the same week his sire Per Incanto (USA) was awarded the Centaine Trophy in New Zealand it has been announced he will also have a runner in this year’s Everest with slick sprinter Jimmystar (NZ) confirmed for the world’s richest turf sprint in October.
Little Avondale Stud’s Per Incanto has achieved worldwide progeny earnings of more than $20 million in the 2024-25 season, giving him a comfortable buffer over Savabeel ($17.85 million) in the Centaine standings. Read about him here.
The Ciaron Maher trained Jimmysstar was a G1 winner twice this season in the MRC Oakleigh Plate (1100m) and ATC All Aged Stakes (1400m) and will run in The Everest taking the TAB slot.
Per Incanto has been represented previously in The Everest by Lost and Running who was fourth to Nature Strip in 2021 and then was scratched from the race due to a minor leg injury in 2022 when he was regarded as a winning hope.
Jimmysstar could well make amends.
