One to Watch – Goulburn

Tara Madgwick - Sunday April 22
Golden Slipper winner Pierro just keeps producing nice winners including a well-bred filly that carried the Blue Sky Bloodstock colours to victory at Goulburn on Sunday.

With Purpose as a yearlingTrained by Edward O’Rourke, With Purpose was sent out a short priced favourite for the 1100 metre maiden and while it took her every inch of the straight to wear down the leaders, she emerged triumphant with a short head win.

A $230,000 Magic Millions purchase for Blue Sky Bloodstock from the Coolmore draft, With Purpose is the second winner for stakes-winning General Nediym mare Paprika.

Coolmore sold the current yearling from Paprika, a filly by Fastnet Rock, at Magic Millions for $500,000 and she has a filly by Vancouver to follow. She is now back in foal to Fastnet Rock.

With Purpose is the fifth winner in the past five days for Pierro, who is doing an amazing job with his first crop, who are now three year-olds.

Pierro is second to only Snitzel on the three year-old sires list with 43 winners of $7.1 million in prizemoney and six of those winners are stakes-winners, two of them Group I winners Levendi and Pinot.

AS a result of his success, Pierro has had his fee raised this spring by Coolmore to $88,000.
