Multiple Group I Month for Torryburn and a $1million Yearling

Media Release - Tuesday April 17
For owner Yvette Pearce and the team at Torryburn Stud, the prospect of El Dorado Dreaming crossing the line to win the G1 Sires Produce Stakes at Randwick last Saturday seemed like a pipe dream.

El Dorado Dreaming was foaled and raised at TorryburnSitting in the office at Torryburn just a few days before, Pearce was still tossing up whether she's make the trip form Singleton to Randwick to watch her filly run, the donning of a dress and the drive possibly too much an arduous task to consider for a maiden with a 200-1 chance. Bet she's glad she did!!

Torryburn Stud's yearling sale team were crowded around the stable TV's at Inglis's Riverside sales complex when the filly came in to 100-1 and ran an incredibly hard fought race against more fashionably bred horses for a nail biting win fromOohood(I Am Invincible). Needless to say the staff were ecstatic for Yvette who loves her horses and places them with trainers who she thinks will best suit each individual horse.

Yvette Pearce, herself a Kiwi, purchased the Zabeel mare Solanas with the sole purpose of breeding with the lines of the legendary New Zealand stallion.

Solanas delivered her seventh foal and sixth filly on 1 September, 2015 and she spent the first two years of her life grazing the paddocks here at Torryburn. Adding the icing to the cake, the filly's sire Ilovethiscity claimed his first stakes winner with this unexpected Group One winner and is owned by Brett Cornish and some mates so it makes the achievement for the team here at Torryburn even more exciting.

Congratulations to Yvette, trainer Ben Smith at Newcastle, jockey Damian Lane and all the staff here at Torryburn who have cared for this filly from birth. It doesn't get much better than that!

Torryburn born Miss Wilson also stepped up last week to claim her first Group 1 in the Te Aroha Jockey Club's New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes.

Miss Wilson jumped well to sit behind the leaders and pounce at the 250m mark to claim the win by a half length from Thee Auld Floozie and Nicoletta for jockey Vinnie Colganand trainerJohn Bary.

Congratulations to ownersRichard and Liz Woodwho have now witnessed their 5yoStratummare win at the highest level after always showing ability by claiming theG3 GR Kelt Memorial Handicapin October last year.

What a thrill for Graham & Linda Huddy who's I Am Invincible x Utopia colt was secured from the Torryburn Stud draft by the Hong Kong Jockey Club for $1M at the Australian Easter Yearling Sale last Wednesday.

$1million I Am Invincible colt from UtopiaThe half brother to Group 1 South Australian Derbywinner Volatile Mix (Pentire) was born and raised at Torryburn Stud and had a trouble free preparation in the lead up to Australia's most prestigious yearling sale.

"This colt has all the makings of an outstanding racehorse," said Brett Cornish. "He is an athletic individual which caught the eye of the astute judges from the Jockey Club and we wish them all the very best of success", he continued.

The Huddy's have been very tactical with their breeding decisions, taking a chance on young stallions with potential. We will be very interested to see which stallions Utopia has her pick of in the upcoming season.
