$305,000 Mare in Foal to Wootton Bassett Tops Inglis Digital

Media Release - Thursday June 12

The popularity of Coolmore shuttle stallion Wootton Bassett (GB) continues to intensify with a sale-topping result in today’s Inglis Digital June (Early) Online Sale.

The broodmare Wind Chimes – offered by Coolmore in foal to Wootton Bassett, who will return to Jerrys Plains this upcoming breeding season – sold to Hong Kong’s Ben Kwok for a sale-high $305,000.

Wind Chimes (IRE) sold for $305,000.

“This is another great result for Wootton Bassett, he’s had a phenomenal start here in Australia and continues to go from strength to strength throughout the world,’’ Coolmore’s Stud Manager Justin Carey said.

“There was significant interest in her, as there always is with our key listings on Inglis Digital and we wish the buyer all the luck with the mare moving forward.’’

Kwok confirmed Wind Chimes would head to Windsor Park in NZ and foal down before visiting one of the stallions that stand on the farm.

“Something like Profondo, Shamexpress, I have a good relationship with the Windsor Park team so we will work out which is the best stallion for her moving forward once she has given us a lovely Wootton Bassett foal soon,’’ Kwok said.

“Wootton Bassett is going so well and is coming back to Australia for a large [service] fee so we wanted to get in early and buy a mare in foal to him like Wind Chimes so it is perfect.

“I am a big supporter of Inglis Digital, I’ve been buying off the platform for a number of years and I’ve found it a very nice platform to use, it’s very easy, you can always buy with confidence and everybody at Inglis is so friendly and it’s good for both buyers and sellers so I’m a very big fan.’’

Tonight’s second-top lot was the West Australian mare Keshi Boom (Spirit of Boom), which realised $290,000.

Offered by Perth trainers Grant and Alana Williams, Keshi Boom sold to Matt Scown Bloodstock on behalf of Yarraman Park Stud and partners.

“Michael Grant flagged the mare to me last week before the catalogue even went live and suggested I take a look at her so it was a great call by him because we fell in love with her,’’ Scown said.

“She’s such a great sort and was obviously a really quality race filly so she’ll come across from WA in the next week straight to Yarraman and we’ll spend some time now working out which stallion suits her best for her maiden cover this spring.

“Michael’s advice, plus the fact she is such a looker, gave us the confidence to bid up and we always know we can find these quality mares on Inglis Digital.’’

Grant Williams described the result as “outstanding’’.

“It’s a great price $290,000, like really great, we’re really happy,’’ Williams said.

“We fielded plenty of calls on her in the lead-up, there was great interest in her and that’s what you want to see as a seller.

“[Inglis Bloodstock Consultant] Sinead [Flannery] is great, she really did all the hard work for us with this, she and Inglis are always great to deal with and we love the Inglis Digital platform, we use it all the time.’’

Wind Chimes and Keshi Boom were joined by Duchy Of Savoy ($185,000), Diss Is Dramatic ($165,000), Dixie Chick ($150,000) and La Casona ($120,000) as six-figure sellers in the June (Early) Sale, which helped its gross reach $3,899,400.

Entries for the June (Late) Sale are now open and will remain so until midnight next Wednesday, June 18.

The sale will run from June 20-25.
