Magnum Park is proud to announce that their well credentialled young stallion Levendi will stand at the Old Beach property this spring.
The Gr.1 ATC Derby winning son of Pierro arrived in February and the stud's Alexis Beadman is delighted with the way in which he has settled in.
"He is completely content," she said of the ten-year-old, adding that he is "thriving" in his new surroundings.
"He has room to run with a dedicated stallion house for all weather comfort and paddocks with views across the rolling hills. He has mates on all sides; he could not be happier which means we could not be happier!"
Beadman is excited about the feedback she has been receiving on Levendi's progeny whose first runners are just two.
"It has all been very positive and encouraging. Breakers and trainers alike are saying that they are competitive horses who love to run and who are willing to learn. They have great attitudes; traits that align with what we are seeing on the farm."
"They have great actions, they cover the ground with ease," Beadman said, happy with the start Levendi has made with his first runners showing good potential.
Such as the Victorian Tempt The Gods who caught the eye with a strong finishing third when having just his second start recently and Bella Chinkara whose fourth in Listed company behind the in-form Zany Girl suggests that she is a horse to follow.
Well known for their success and integrity in the standardbred industry, Magnum Park was established in the 1980's by the Beadman family. Whilst gaining a foothold in the thoroughbred game, Levendi stood at another stud but now everything is primed and ready to ensure the young stallion is given every chance to succeed.
"We believe strongly in his quality, his temperament and his future," Beadman said.
And she hopes Levendi can be the horse to help Tasmanian breeders along, noting that "it is no secret that these are challenging times for many in the industry. Now, more than ever, the strength of our industry lies in supporting one another."
To that end there are a number of special offers in place for those keen to support Levendi with discounts for interstate mares in order to offset the costs of transportation, discounts for return clients and for those booking multiple mares.
"And we offer flexibility as we know breeders are doing it tough at the moment," she said, "we are happy to talk and find workable solutions."
It is a "regal pedigree" owned by Levendi who Beadman described as being "serious value for money."
"We are looking forward to helping breeders unlock the potential of their mares. That’s a responsibility we take seriously," she said, consulting pedigree analyst Kristen Manning.
One of Pierro's 40 stakes winners and seven Gr.1 winners, Levendi is one of the three stakes winners produced by the stakes placed Redoute's Choice (also dam sire of Zoustar) mare Lipari - daughter of the Gr.1 Australasian Oaks winner Tully Thunder and also dam of the Gr.3 winners Wu Gok and Marcel From Madrid.
There is so much upside for Levendi which has Beadman excited.
"His move to Magnum Park marks a new era not just for him and for us but for Tasmanian breeding."
"We have bred and raised elite standardbred horses and our team knows what it takes to raise great athletes."
"Levendi and his progeny are supported by respected thoroughbred professionals, including his trainer Peter Gelagotis and Tasmania's leading trainer John Blacker; respected horsemen who know what a good one looks like and how to prepare them for success."
"Levendi has all the hallmarks of a stallion able to make an impact," Gelagotis said. "He was bred to be a star, he was a star on the track, a 2Y0 winner, a Group 1 winner; it all adds up."
"We've got a couple in the stable and they have really impressed us. They are balanced types, clean movers with good attitudes; they are just genuine, quality young horses showing natural ability. They have handled the early work like pros - they are doing everything right and showing us all the early signs you want to see. If this is what Levendi keeps throwing we are in for a bit of fun!"
"Levendi had the speed to win over sprinting trips and the stamina to win a Derby; that really appealed to me, " John Blacker added.
"He has class and he is passing that on. We've bought a few by him now and they are the right kind of horses - good types with good attitudes, and they’re improving all the time."
So taken by the first Levendis in his stable, Blacker has come back for more.
"We backed him again this year and bought another four. I wanted to get in early while they were still affordable because once they start doing the job, they won’t stay at that price. I think his progeny are going to shape the future of racing here in Tasmania and I reckon mainland trainers and breeders who take a chance won't be disappointed either."
The winner of over $1.7 million, Levendi had the precocity to record a big win at his two-year-old debut, quickly rising through the grades at three to take out the Gr.3 Carbine Club Stakes at Flemington on Derby Day before a Sydney autumn campaign that saw him win the Gr.2 Tulloch Stakes and the ATC Derby... a race won by his great grandsire Octagonal in 1996.
"We have trained several top class horses such as Mourinho, Malaguerra, Moss ‘n’ Dale, Hvasstan and Illustrious Lad but Levendi stands alone for sheer natural ability; he is the stable's pin-up horse," Peter Gelagotis said.
Levendi's service fee remains at $7,700 (incl GST). For further details contact Alexis Beadman at Magnum Park on 0407 056 927 or info@magnumpark.com.au
