Widden Stud might be the home of Zoustar, but Antony Thompson has plenty of respect for reigning champion sire I Am Invincible and secured Stellar Pauline in foal to him for $1.15million at MM National on Wednesday.
Consigned by Yarraman Park, Stellar Pauline was originally an $875,000 Magic Millions yearling purchase from Arrowfield for US based Stonestreet Stables and raced in their colours.
A full sister to Group I winner Secret Agenda and half-sister to Group I placed Tutta La Vita, Stellar Pauline was Group II placed and comes from a family that is bristling with potential.
Another two of her half-sisters have produced Group winners Jasmin Rouge and Enthaar, so it’s very much a family poised to soar to new heights and Stellar Pauline has started off in promising fashion.
Stellar Pauline has a two year-old I Am Invincible filly called Lady Destrier that has been retained and given to with Anthony and Sam Freedman and a weanling filly by the same sire to follow.
“She’s right in our wheelhouse. Yesterday we bought a Magic Millions winner (Skirt the Law) and this mare was ran second in that race, this morning we bought a Sweet Embrace winner (Lazzago),” said Antony Thompson, who was quick to make mention of pedigree.
“She’s by Not A Single Doubt, obviously we’ve had a lot of luck there with Summer Sham to Zoustar to produce Schwarz and her dam-sire Red Ransom has certainly worked with Zoustar as well with Solar Charged, the dam of Sunlight.
“I thought she was just the perfect mare for Zoustar.”
