Miss Enfield in Foal to Wootton Bassett Sells for $1.25million

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday May 28

Wootton Bassett (GB) has had a hefty fee increase for his return to Coolmore Australia this spring in the wake of overwhelming worldwide success on the track, so blueblood Miss Enfield was an attractive package in foal to him in her first season at stud.

Offered in the Newgate Consignment, the unraced I Am Invincible daughter of Champion 3YO Filly Samantha Miss was purchased by Yulong for $1.25million at the MM National Sale on Wednesday.

As a half-sister to Group II winner Miss Fabulass and Group II placed Call Di, who are both now at stud, Miss Enfield is a young mare with the potential of serious upside on her page going forward.

Yulong have very little exposure to Wootton Bassett, who will stand at a fee of $385,000, so the purchase of the mare had appeal for two reasons.

“It’s just going to give our yearling drafts a bit of diversity by having a few to offer by different stallions,” said Sam Fairgray.

“She’s a quality of mare and there’s a lot of fillies in that family, so it’s just going to keep on getting better as those fillies go to stud and get bred-up.”
