One to Watch – Scone

Tara Madgwick - Friday May 16

The two day Scone Cup Carnival kicked off on Friday and the very first race produced a promising debut winner for champion sire I am Invincible that got punters off to a flying start.

Prepared in Sydney by Richard and Will Freedman, I Am Brave was sent off favourite with Jason Collett to ride and was doing her best work late to forge clear and win the 1000m maiden by more than a length.

I Am Brave was a $360,000 Magic Millions purchase from Yarraman Park.

She is a full sister to stakes-placed Pageantry and is the seventh winner from eight foals to race from stakes-placed Andromache, a Charge Forward daughter of Champion South African 3YO Filly and Group I winner Mythical Play.

Andromache had a Hellbent filly sell for $80,000 at Inglis Premier this year and produced a filly last spring by Brave Smash (Jpn) before going to Bivouac.
