Riverbank's Attachment to Prince of Caviar

Media Release - Thursday May 15

When the opportunity arose to stand Prince of Caviar at their Riverbank Farm, owners Russell and Caroline Osborne didn’t hesitate.

A lot – a LOT – of winners have emerged from their Benalla, Victoria property, especially for the breed to race crowd, and the Osbornes are convinced Prince of Caviar fits the bill.

Prince of Caviar stands for just $4,400, click for more info.

The name probably gives it away but Prince of Caviar is from Black Caviar … indeed, the only son out of the racing immortal standing at stud.

Additionally, Prince of Caviar is by the late and very great Sebring, who has 82 stakes winners of some $160 million in stakes.

Unfortunately, Prince of Caviar had to be retired early due to injury, but not before he had a win on board and a lip second to subsequent Group 1 winner, Extra Brut, on debut.

With his oldest now 3YOs, it could be argued the pick of the crop thus far, is the Archie Alexander trained, Attachments, who has won two from three and clearly has plenty of promise, while other winners include Robbie Griffiths’ Drone Attack and Regal Judgement, both scoring victories in the last month.

Fittingly, Attachments, Drone Attack and the Tom Dabernig winner Miss Top Gun are all bred and raced by Neil Werrett, who raced Black Caviar and, in turn, bred Prince of Caviar.

“She (Attachments) is going very well,” Archie Alexander enthused. “The filly had excuses on debut, but her two runs back in have been terrific, leading all the way at Cranbourne.

“We’ll be taking Attachments across to South Australia for a Saturday race at Murray Bridge on the 24th (May) and I reckon it will really suit her.

“We’ve also got a 2YO in the paddock that’s owned by the Black Caviar crew and I have high hopes for him as well, so I certainly don’t have any knock on the breed.”

With Prince of Caviar standing at a fee of $4,400 in 2025, the Osbornes firmly believe their stallion has plenty to offer breeder/owners looking for athletic types that will give them a sight on race day.

“Neil (Werrett) and the other owners of Black Caviar has been tremendous supporters of Prince of Caviar and sent quite a few mares to him since he came to Riverbank,” Caroline Osborne points out, “so it’s great to see they’re getting winners like Attachments.

“When you see the quality of foal he produces, it wouldn’t surprise us at all if Attachments is just the tip of the iceberg.”
