Extreme Choice share tops May (Early) Sale at $540,000

A share in world class stallion Extreme Choice topped tonight’s Inglis Digital May (Early) Online Sale, selling for $540,000.

Offered by the China Horse Club, the share sold to Glenlogan Park’s Steve Morley, who described Extreme Choice as a “freak’’.

“The reality is, the stats emanating from this stallion speak for themselves and the word ‘freak’ certainly has to be in the conversation,’’ Morley said.

“When you look at those stallions at the top end of the market, Extreme Choice is younger than all of them and he’s already provided Group 1 horses.

“Glenlogan have a number of very high-class mares and from a long-term point of view, we think we will be able to get some great results with Extreme Choice in the next say eight-to-10 years.

“The beauty of Inglis Digital is it’s very easy to use and it gives opportunities to both buyers and sellers all throughout the year, twice a month.’’

China Horse Club’s Michael Smith added: “We’re delighted with the outcome.

“It sets a new benchmark for the stallion. He’s a superior horse and we’re delighted to have Glenlogan join us in the ownership, who are such incredible breeders in their own right.

“It’s been a seamless process with Inglis Digital, the share got a lot of coverage in the lead-up and we’re looking forward to the stallion going from strength to strength in years to come.

Tonight’s second-top lot was the 4YO mare Glade (Zoustar) – in foal to Home Affairs - which sold to Ascend Thoroughbreds for $250,000.

Glade was offered by Cavallo Park Stud, whose Cate Lavender said: “It’s a great result. She’s a quality mare on an enticing pregnancy so she deserved to realise such a good outcome.

“We love Inglis Digital, it’s such a seamless platform and the Inglis team always do such a fantastic job in creating a strong market to give us vendors the best possible chance of getting results like this.’’

The third-top lot was Acquired – offered in foal to Shinzo – which sold to Riverstone Lodge for $160,000.

Acquired was one of six offerings from Highgrove Stud, of which five sold.

“We’re thrilled with today’s sale,’’ Highgrove’s Ron Gilbert said.

“A special mention to Rusty [Inglis’ NSW Bloodstock Operations Manager Chris Russell] who worked so hard to get these horses sold, the service provided has been amazing.’’

In total six lots realised $100,000 or more tonight, with Fierce Dragon ($150,000), Appin Opal ($100,000) and Leading The Way ($100,000) joining the aforementioned.

The large volume of six-figure lots helped the sale gross $4,725,050.

Entries are now open for the May (Late) Sale, which will run from May 23-28.

Entries will close at midnight on Wednesday May 21.
