Juvenile Trial Watch – Warwick Farm

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday May 13

Five heats for juveniles at the Warwick Farm trials on Tuesday morning included three unraced youngsters by Extreme Choice, Anders and Capitalist, plus we got the first look at the $1.4million Wootton Bassett (GB) colt from Sunlight.

Darby Racing have a happy knack for finding a value filly at Inglis Classic and might have got lucky with this modestly priced Extreme Choice filly Extrio, who won at her first outing for the Bjorn Baker stable with Rachel King on board.

It was a close three way finish and take good note of the place-getters as second is Confidentiality, a half-sister by Shalaa (IRE)  to Private Eye having her second trial and third was the Chris Waller trained colt Central Coast.

First outing for this $1.4million colt from champion filly Sunlight and there was a lot to like about it.

Bred by SF Bloodstock at Newgate, Extrio is from US stakes-winning import Triple Chelsea (USA), whose next two dams are French stakes-winners up to a mile, so there is some class and diversity to the pedigree.

Corumbene Stud have bred some great horses including Golden Slipper winners Sebring and Overreach, who is the dam of Capitalist filly Loera, who was retained and sent to Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott.

She showed the trademark natural speed of this family to lead all the way and win by nearly four lengths in her first outing.

Loera is a half-sister to Group II winner Lofty Strike and will be looking to be come the fifth winner from Overreach, whose Zoustar three year-old filly Ninette was a Breednet ‘One to Watch’ last week, click to read about her.

Matthew Smith produced an impressive winner by first season sire Anders in Andhe’s Brave, who has a strong resemblance to his sire. A big heavy chestnut with a prominent blaze, it was the third trial this prep for unraced Andhe’s Brave, who was asked for nothing at the previous two.

This time he was popped the question and had a good answer for Molly Bourke, powering clear at the top of the straight and then coasting to win by four. He clocked the quickest time for the juvenile heats of 46.06

Andhe’s Brave was retained to race buys his breeders and is from unraced Exceed and Excel mare Belle Symphony, a daughter of stakes-winner National Treasure.

Additional winners were Point Score (Blue Point (IRE) and Albany Road (Exceed and Excel).
