Leading Sires as Expected at Inglis Easter Day One

Tara Madgwick - Monday April 9
Today was only a small taste of what's to come at the 2018 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale and the first 130 lots through the ring on Monday have produced just the sort of results for the leading sires we expect.

Arrowfield Stud's reigning champion sire Snitzel led the way with 10-yearlings averaging $561,500 with Yarraman Park's I Am Invincible hot on his heels with 10 yearlings averaging $535,500.

Snitzel produced three million dollar yearlings with a filly from Azmiyna (IRE) topping the session for Arrowfield Stud when bought by Waller Racing and Guy Mulcaster. The filly has a real depth to her pedigree being from an unraced half-sister by Galileo to four-time Group I winner and sire Azamour. Click here to see who bought the Snitzels for how much.

I Am Invincible did best with the half-brother to Golden Slipper winner Mossfun that made $1,050,000 for Fairview Park when knocked down to Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott/ Blue Sky Bloodstock. Click here to see who bought the I Am Invincible's for how much.

Special mention should be made of Japanese sire sensation Deep Impact, who only had two entries for this sale, but both sold today for $1.1 million (filly from Alverta) and $1million (filly from Charming Estelle).

$800,000 Dissident colt from AssailNewgate Farm's Australian Horse of the Year Dissident did best of the first season sires posting an outstanding result for his colt stakes-winner Assail that made $800,000 for Newgate Farm when bought by China Horse Club WinStar Farm.

Catalogued as Lot 22, he failed to make an appearance in the ring at his scheduled selling time due to a minor mishap, but appeared as the very last lot at the end of the day and sparked instant attention from buyers.

He is the second foal of his dam who is by Charge Forward, the sire of the dam of the last two Golden Slipper winners in She Will Reign and Estijaab.

The sale continues tomorrow and for all the best stats click here for the Breednet Sales Centre.
