Rosemont Set Fees - Schwarz New for 2025

Media Release - Wednesday April 30

Rosemont Stud are thrilled to announce the brilliant, all-the-way winner of the $1M W.F.A William Reid Stakes 1200m, SCHWARZ will stand at their Gnarwarre base in 2025.

Schwarz is an exciting addition for Rosemont Stud.

A winner of five stakes including the William Reid, Schwarz will retire as the only Australian Group One WFA Winning son of Champion sire Zoustar but also his most successful entire having won five-stakes races in total.

Additionally, Schwarz becomes the first $1M+ Yearling / Group One WFA Winning Australian sprinter (5f-6f) to retire to stud in over a decade.

“We believe he’s not only Zoustar’s greatest, most successful son but also his best-looking and indeed best-bred stallion.” said Rosemont Bloodstock Manager, Ryan McEvoy.

“As a $1.25M Magic Millions purchase from a Group 2 Winning daughter of Not A Single Doubt who stems directly from the family of Redoute’s Choice he combines everything you would wish for in an elite stallion prospect; type, sire-line, pedigree, attitude & Group One winning speed”.

In his last five outings, Schwarz has added a Group One WFA win with two scintillating victories at Group Two WFA level – all over the 1200m.

A son of the all-conquering ZOUSTAR – the world’s leading sire of 2024 & reigning champion Australian sire of Gr.1 Winners, Stakes Winners & Winners – he took the eye of John O’Shea, Rosemont & agent Suman Hedge who purchased the colt at the 2022 Magic Millions for $1.25M as part of the Rosemont Alliance syndicate.

“I haven’t trained a better looking, more imposing colt than him, nor many faster,” stated trainer John O’Shea.

He’s the highest-rated yearling I have seen in years. It is scary how rare it is to for a colt to fetch $1M+ at the sales & achieve Gr1 W.F.A success.

"He not only had the right attitude for a colt to train on at four, he had the ability to stretch his speed to stakes victories at 1400m and he won at the three toughest courses we have in Australia; Randwick, Flemington & The Valley.

"He’s a slam dunk prospect.”

A decision on the immediate future of Schwarz is being finalised with strong consideration being given to a final race start in the $1.5M Group One Doomben 10,000 (WFA, 1200m) where Schwarz is the outright TAB Favourite at $4.50 ahead of Group One Winners Sunshine In Paris, Bendetta & Overpass.

“He has bounced out of the William Reid with great energy and confidence that we are open to another start and establishing him as a dual Group One winner & Champion Australian sprinter elect. Having looked at him last week I have never seen a more healthier, stronger individual. His form is impeccable when he’s been presented fresh so we’re hopeful of getting him to QLD for the Group One Doomben 10,000”, explained Rosemont Principal, Anthony Mithen.

Schwarz will stand for a ‘Price On Application’ basis with an official fee set to be applied upon retirement. With limited number of nominations available, breeders are encouraged to contact Rosemont to discuss their bookings.

A small, select number of shares will be made available in Schwarz with breeders encouraged to contact Rosemont to register an interest.

Henry Longfellow (IRE) will stand at a fee of $22,000.

In another exciting development for the Rosemont roster in 2025 is the introduction of the stunning, royally bred Group One Winning 2yo son of Dubawi, HENRY LONGFELLOW who stands at the astonishing value of $20,000 + GST (Payment On Live Foal)

A highly rated Timeform 2yo, like his legendary sire Dubawi, Henry Longfellow remained undefeated as a juvenile in winning the €400k Goffs National Stakes Gr.1 by 5 lengths. From Galileo’s greatest ever daughter, MINDING, Henry Longfellow joins sire sensation TOO DARN HOT as the only other Group One Winning 2yo by DUBAWI to ever stand in Australia.

“Sons of Dubawi have really set the industry alight and his legacy as a breed-shaping stallion is proving every post a winner with eight of his sons having already sired Gr.1 winners of their own including Night Of Thunder, Too Darn Hot, Zarak & New Bay” explains Rosemont Principal, Anthony Mithen.

“Given the 2yo impact stallions such as Too Darn Hot & Night Of Thunder – also ex Galileo mare – have had in Australia particularly with Danehill line mares, it made sense for us to target a high-quality 2yo son of Dubawi to stand in Victoria.”

Henry Longfellow will be covering a full book of mares in the Northern Hemisphere & has been met with overwhelming support – impressing both breeders and buyers alike.

Shamus Award

The rise of SHAMUS AWARD as an elite sire of Group One Winners has been nothing short of phenomenal and the Cox Plate winning, champion son of Snitzel will stand the 2025 season at the excellent value of $30,000 + GST (Payment On Live Foal)

In 2024, SHAMUS AWARD sired his SIXTH individual Group One winner which highlighted yet again what a phenomenal source of Group One class this superstar sire can produce.

Not only has SHAMUS AWARD established himself as the dominant sire-son of champion sire SNITZEL, statistically he’s now amongst the best sires in Australia. In fact, his 5.9% SW/R’s ratio is superior to the likes of SO YOU THINK, DUNDEEL, TORONADO, MAURICE, PIERRO etc.

With an average book of 170 mares over the last four seasons, Shamus Award is an outstanding option for breeders this year given his appealing fee & obvious upside.

Hanseatic

Standing for $15,000 + GST (Payment On Live Foal) is the hugely popular, HANSEATIC.

With multiple 2yo winners in addition to three stakes performers – Hanseatic is enjoying a strong start to his stud career and, at the time of writing, has a number of promising jump-out and trial winners about to appear on the scene.

With over 500 mares covered in the first three seasons we expect this promising young stallion to have a significant impact over the next 12 months and 2025 presents as an opportune to time to consider breeding to him.

Yearlings in 2024 sold for up to $375,000, $250,000, $220,000, $160,000 etc and the market backed up their confidence in him at the majors again in 2025 with yearlings fetching $230,000, $200,000, $180,000 etc

Extreme Warrior

The dynamic, EXTREME WARRIOR – the Highest Rated 3yo son of freakish young sire EXTREME CHOICE – stands his fourth season at $12,000 + GST (Payment On Live Foal).

A precocious, multiple stakes performer as an early 2yo, It was however as a 3yo in a competitive Group 3 Blue Sapphire Stakes at Caulfield, that EXTREME WARRIOR emphatically laid claim to his Group One talent. A last 400m blitz which race-caller Matt Hill described as a ‘wow performance’…. ‘Extreme Warrior runs straight past Profiteer…this is going to be a demolition!’

First crop yearlings have sold for up to $160k, $100k, $100k etc

Doull

In 2024, we launched the stallion career of the brilliantly fast, magnificent looking son of Snitzel, DOULL.

A $1.2 Million Inglis Easter Yearling purchase, DOULL set the Flemington straight alight on debut as a 2yo recording a dominant victory in what was ranked by The Ratings’ Bureau’ Daniel O’Sullivan as the ‘best performance by a juvenile colt throughout the 21/22’ season’.

He returned in the 2023 spring and showcased his speed to win the 1000m Gr2 Caulfield Sprint producing the fastest last 600m ran at Caulfield amongst all sprint Group races in season 22/23’.

From the 2yo stakes winning daughter of the influential Shamardal, Doull (pictured) is an A+ type, beautifully bred & arguably the best-looking son of 4x Champion sire SNITZEL to enter stud. He will stand at the reduced fee of $7,000+ GST (Payment On Live Foal).

ALL Rosemont Stallion are presented with ‘Payment On Live Foal’ terms.
