Cosmic Force Filly Salutes for China Horse Club

Tara Madgwick - Monday April 21

A homebred for China Horse Club, three year-old Cosmic Force filly Mia Ballerina has a pedigree that will make her a lovely addition to their broodmare band one day and she is also now a metro winner after breaking her maiden at Canterbury on Monday.

Trained by Chris Waller and ridden by James McDonald, Mia Ballerina has been very consistent and was long overdue for a win with McDonald taking luck out of the equation when sending her forward.

She kicked away turning for home and won the 1250m maiden by nearly three lengths as favourite.

Mia Ballerina has a win and three placings from six starts with prizemoney topping $66,000 and will take confidence out of the win.

She is a half-sister to Group II winner Dame Giselle and Group III placed The Fairy’s Kiss, dam of Group I winner Ulanova.

Mia Ballerina is the last foal of Group II winner Ballet Society, who passed away last year and has the perfect produce record of eight foals to race all winners.

Newgate Farm's Cosmic Force has made good progress this season with three stakes-winners in Wonder Boy, Give Me Space and Stay Focused with his oldest progeny just three year-olds.
