New SW for Capitalist – Reserve Bank wins Listed Redelva Stakes

Tara Madgwick - Saturday April 12

Autumn carnival racing is coming to Adelaide and the Listed SAJC Redelva Stakes (1100m) at Morphettville on Saturday had several contenders from Victoria in the line up including short priced favourite Gallant Son, but he was not quite good enough to catch Capitalist colt Reserve Bank.

Trained by Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr, Reserve Bank was a Breednet ‘One to Watch’ when winning on debut at two in June last year and has always been held in high regard by his trainers.

Dropping sharply in grade from his last start sixth to Schwarz in the Group I MVRC William Reid Stakes, Reserve Bank delivered on potential when scoring a half length win for Daniel Stackhouse and has now won three of seven starts earning early $200,000 in prizemoney.

“He was a bit sticky out of the gates. The plan was to be positive, so I just had to use him up a little bit early to be in that position I wanted to be in as I didn't want any hard luck stories today,” said Daniel Stackhouse.

“He travelled nice. I revved him, he switched off and then travelled good. I knew Gallant Son was on my back, so I was a bit patient around the corner. I didn't want to bring him into the race too early, but then it felt like he'd come to us and then my horse found again.

“He's been racing well in some nice company and it's good to get another win on the board for him.”

Reserve Bank was a $410,000 Inglis Premier purchase from Segenhoe.

A $410,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the Segenhoe Stud draft for MG Price Racing & Breeding Pty Ltd, Reserve Bank runs for a syndicate of stable clients.

Bred by Segenhoe, he is the best of two winners from Our Songbird, a metro winning half-sister by Fastnet Rock to stakes-winners Debonairly and Corsaire

Segenhoe sold a yearling colt by Pinatubo (IRE) from Our Songbird at Magic Millions this year for $375,000 to Andy Low.

Our Songbird had no foal last year after missing the previous season and is now back in foal to Capitalist.

Reserve Bank is the 24th stakes-winner for Capitalist, who stands at Newgate  this spring at a fee of $44,000.
