Brilliant Return for Hinchinbrook Mare

Tara Madgwick - Saturday March 31
A two time stakes-winner previously, talented Hinchinbrook mare Spright was right at the top of her game when resuming from a spell at Rosehill on Saturday to score a thrilling victory in the Group III ATC Star Kingdom Stakes.

Disappointing when unplaced in two runs in the spring, she was sent back to the paddock and tuned up for this assignment with two recent trials by her trainer Garry Frazer.

Spright - images Steve HartEasy in the market, she settled at the rear for Jay Ford, but flew home from the clouds to snatch an impressive long neck win over seasoned sprinter Dothraki in the 1200 metre sprint.

"She's a really good mare when she is right," said Jay Ford.

"Last prep was a bit of a right off, she never came up, but her trials have been good leading into today and it's good to see the old Spright letting loose like she can."

Spright was a $100,000 Inglis Premier II purchase from the Grange Thoroughbreds draft making her the highest priced filly sold in that part of the sale and has won four of 16 starts earning over $500,000 in prizemoney for her owners who include members of the White family in whose famous white and purple colours she runs.

Spright was a successful pinhook having been bought as a weanling by Gary Mudgway for just $12,000 at the Inglis Select Weanling Sale.

A half-sister to Group III placed Mine Two, Spright is the third winner from Dashoff, who comes from the family of Group I winner Ideal Planet.

Dashoff had a colt by Arlington last spring and was then covered by Teofilo (IRE).

Spright is one of 12 stakes-winner for Yarraman Park's Hinchinbrook, who has 11 entries for the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
