Tom Magnier Swoops on $1.5million Snitzel Colt

Tara Madgwick - Monday April 7

Tom Magnier is a big fan of Arrowfield Stud and their champion sire Snitzel and a colt from the family of world champion sire Dubawi proved irresistible on Monday morning when selling for $1.5million to be the first million dollar offering on Day 2 of Inglis Easter.

$1.5million Snitzel colt from Subella (IRE).

He is the first foal of blueblood import Subella (IRE), an unraced half-sister by Teofilo to the dam of stakes-winner Cloak of Spirits. His grand-dam Suba is a three-quarter sister to Champion 2YO and 3YO Colt Dubawi, one of the very best stallions in the world.

“There’s lot to be said about a Teofilo mare with a good page,” said Tom Magnier.

“Obviously he's one of the better Snitzels in the sales, and we’ve  had a fair bit of luck with Snitzels (Shinzo and Switzerland), so we'll see how we go and obviously Chris (Waller) is very keen on the horse.”

Subella had another filly by Snitzel last year for Arrowfield and then went back to him again after missing to Militarize, who was subsequently pulled from service and sent back to work after striking fertility issues.
