Exciting New 2YO SW for Written Tycoon

The Lindsay Park trained Written Tycoon filly Scenic Point was a super impressive debut winner at Pakenham last month and punters expected her to take that winning form into her first Black Type assignment at Caulfield on Saturday in the Listed MRC Redoute’s Choice Stakes (1100m).

Ridden by Daniel Stackhouse, Scenic Point settled at the tail of the field and looped them coming to the turn before powering clear to take the win.

She was green to the line, but still much too good in beating the smart colts Aleppo Pine and Medyni by a length to make it two wins in as many starts with prizemoney topping $120,000.

"She got a little bit hot in the pre-parade which was a little bit different to Pakenham," said Will Hayes.

"She's certainly waking up and is on a big learning curve. I felt today, what she did, was on raw ability and there's plenty of upside.

"We'll be guided by how she pulls up, but the way she won today you wouldn't hesitate to go to Sydney, but you also wouldn't hesitate to put her in the paddock and protect her for the spring."

Daniel Stackhouse is now two for two on the filly and said, “The feeling she gives you is unbelievable!”

A $450,000 Inglis Easter purchase from Ridgmont Farm for KPW Bloodstock, Scenic Point runs for Judy Wanless and was a successful pinhook having been bought as a weanling from the Magic Millions Edinburgh Park Dispersal for $190,000 by  James Bester Bloodstock/Ridgmont Farm.

Scenic Point is the second foal and second winner from Ludicrous Mode, a placed half-sister by Snitzel to Group II winner Glenfiddich.

Scenic Point is the 75th stakes-winner for Written Tycoon and is the fourth stakes-winner for him from a daughter of Snitzel with nick also producing three G1 winners in Private Life, Velocious and Captured by Love.

Ludicrous Mode was bought by Yulong from the Edinburgh Park Dispersal in 2023 for $160,000  and she produced a filly for them by Pierata last year before going to Written Tycoon again.
