Group One Winner Hellbent Retired to Yarraman

Tara Madgwick - Thursday March 29
Brilliant sprinter Hellbent has been retired after scoring a scintillating win in the Group I MVRC William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley last Friday night.

Hellbent wins the William Reid - Grant CourtneyA supremely talented son of I Am Invincible, who has always promised to win a Group I sprint, the five year-old retires with the overall record of seven wins and seven placings from 23 starts with prizemoney of $901,450.

Hellbent is owned by Yarraman Park and partners and will retire to Yarraman to stand alongside his sire I Am Invincible and Hinchinbrook.

"Darren (Weir) always believed he could win a Group I and he's done that," said Harry Mitchell.

"He's in the best form of his life, but he's danced all the Group I dances and we are very excited to have him coming to the farm.

"He is a great sort, very similar to his father and a perfect fit with what we are doing."

Hellbent clocked a slick 1:09.36 in winning the William Reid, which went very close to bettering Miss Andretti's equal course record of 1:09.29.

He was a short half head second in the race last year and was also Group I placed behind Russian Revolution in the MRC Oakleigh Plate, proving his explosive speed in elite company on multiple occasions.
