Too Darn Lizzie Joins Stellar Inglis Chairman's Sale Lineup

Media Release - Monday March 24

Top-class 3YO filly Too Darn Lizzie, one of the best of her generation, is the latest addition to the already stellar cast for The Chairman’s Sale at Riverside on May 8.

A $1,000,000 yearling, the daughter of Too Darn Hot gave an early demonstration of her ability with an effortless debut win in a $500,000 Maiden in January, before finishing a narrowly beaten third in the G2 Reisling Stakes over 1200m at Randwick.

Too Darn Lizzie is a Group winning daughter of outstanding sire Too Darn Hot (GB) .

Throughout this season, she has mixed it with the very best company, winning the G2 Thousand Guineas Prelude, before finishing a game third in the G1 Thousand Guineas over a mile at Caulfield.

Her three runs this Autumn have seen her place in each of the G2 Angus Armanasco, the G2 Kewney and most recently the G3 Alexandra Stakes at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

The G1 Australasian Oaks on April 26 is her next big race target.

“Too Darn Lizzie has been a very obvious talent right from the outset,” said co-trainer Adrian Bott.

“She is a lovely physical type and has shown both speed and precocity, as well as the ability to train on through her Classic season, which is a very rare blend.

“Her form has been remarkably consistent throughout her career at the elite level and importantly she will get her chance to add a Group 1 victory to her resume at Morphettville next month.

“She is still lightly raced and looks to have plenty of upside in her future racing career,” added Bott.

Too Darn Lizzie races in the famous silks of Lord and Lady Lloyd Webber, whose Racing Manager Simon Marsh described her as “an extraordinary opportunity”.

“We bought her with the goal of securing the best Too Darn Hot filly from his first crop, supporting and promoting the stallion,” said Marsh.

“Never did we imagine she would perform at such an elite level, consistently excelling as a 2YO and 3YO.

“The decision to sell has been incredibly difficult, but as a commercial breeding operation, reinvesting in mares to support Too Darn Hot makes sense.

“Whoever secures her will have an extraordinary opportunity—she still has a big race in her, and long-term, she’s destined to be an outstanding broodmare, just like her dam.”

Too Darn Lizzie will be consigned as a racing and breeding prospect by Yarraman Park Stud.

From the first Australian crop of sire sensation Too Darn Hot, Too Darn Lizzie is a daughter of G2-winning 2YO and G1 Blue Diamond runner-up Enbihaar, who will also take her place in The Chairman’s Sale, while a full brother to Too Darn Lizzie will be offered at the Australian Weanling Sale by Widden Stud.

Inglis Bloodstock Sales Manager Harry Bailey sees Too Darn Lizzie as an offering that can attract “broad international appeal.”

“Amongst a host of stars, she is another special offering for the sale,” said Bailey.

“She has raced exclusively in Stakes company since her debut and has been competitive with the best fillies including Aeliana and Treasurethe Moment.

“The programme for her in Australia as a 4YO is incredibly appealing, with the likes of the $10m Golden Eagle an obvious target.

“This is something we have been working closely with Simon and the team at Waterhouse/Bott on for some time and we are incredibly grateful to Lord and Lady Lloyd Webber for the opportunity to bring her to market on what is going to be a spectacular night of selling,” said Bailey.

Too Darn Lizzie joins the likes of champion mare Bella Nipotina, record-breaking mare I Am Me, Tiz Invincible, Saturday’s G2 winner Sunline Stakes winner Grinzinger Belle, Estriella, G1 winners Royal Merchant and Coco Sun, top-class mare Semana, Calavarite (dam of G1 winner Golden Mile), Whatalovelyday (dam of G1-winning sprinter Benedetta), talented performers Mumbai Muse, Dancing Alone, Sirileo Miss, She Dances, Eagle Nest, Lekvarte, Foxy Cleopatra, Stakes-winning 2YO Castanya and the dam of this season’s high-class 2YO Field Of Play, amongst the confirmed entries into The Chairman’s Sale.

The main catalogue for The Chairman’s Sale must close soon, while Wildcard entries will be taken up until April 24.
