Another Feature Win for Stellar Collision

Tara Madgwick - Sunday March 25
The powerful Darren Weir stable was in top form on Saturday with a Group double at Rosehill and also feature race success at Mornington where Star Witness sprinter Stellar Collision took out the $200,000 Listed Hareeba Stakes.

Stella Collision - Grant CourtneyThe five year-old settled just off the pace and fought hard to the line to win the 1200 metre sprint by a short neck doing a great job for Dean Yendall under his 60 kg.

''He's just a really good honest horse," said Darren Weir.

"I might put him in the Goodwood. He could be a lightweight chance in a Goodwood and I suppose after that (win) I've got to go that way.''

Not offered at auction, Stellar Collision has now won nine of 25 starts and over $520,000 in prizemoney.

He is the first winner for well-bred More Than Ready (USA) mare What an Impact, who comes from the family of Group II winner Elegant Fashion and her Group III winning daughter Star Fashion.

Further back the family traces to celebrated matriarch Highclere, whose many Group I winning descendants include the likes of Nashwan, Nayef, champion Japanese sire Deep Impact and imported Australian Group I winner My Kingdom of Fife.

What an Impact had another Star Witness filly last year and was one of 176 mares covered by him last spring.

Star Witness has three entries for the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
