Impressive Fifth Winner for Farnan

Craig Tompson - Saturday March 1

Kia Ora Stud’s Golden Slipper winner Farnan is building a strong season with his first crop runners and Profoundly took him to the top of the winners table with an impressive win at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Farnan

Having only her second start and settling a clear last in the small field, it took a little while to wake up to what was required but once the penny dropped she flattened out and raced away in the manner of a horse that will win more races.

Ridden by Damien Thornton, the Lee Freedman trained two-year-old ultimately defeated Nottington Prince (Whittington) by 2.6 lengths with Mr Worthington (Worthy Cause) third.

Profoundly was a $65,000 purchase for DLF Racing Services from the Sledmere Stud draft at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

She is the fourth winner from four to race for Al Samer mare Profound Wisdom, who’s progeny included Group III winner Sebonack.

Her yearling by Stay Inside was bought by Bjorn Baker Racing/Clarke Bloodstock form Sledmere for $360,000 this year.

She foaled to Anamoe last season and was served by Stay Inside.

Farnan is on top of the First Season Sire by winners table and has Golden Slipper second favourite North England amongst his arsenal.
