Rosemont to Stand G1 2YO Dubawi Son Henry Longfellow

Media Release - Wednesday February 26

Joining Too Darn Hot as the only other G1 winning 2yo by Dubawi to ever stand in Australia - Rosemont Stud are thrilled to announce the brilliant, supremely bred Group I winning 2yo HENRY LONGFELLOW (IRE) who will stand at their Geelong base in 2025 in partnership with Coolmore.

Henry Longfellow (IRE) is an exciting addition for Rosemont Stud.

By legendary sire DUBAWI, he is from the Seven time Gr.1 Winner, Champion 2 & 3yo, MINDING.

He becomes just the second Group One Winning 2yo by Dubawi to ever shuttle to Australia - the other being young sire-sensation TOO DARN HOT who has recently remained in the UK.

“If ever there was a colt bred destined for greatness, it is Henry Longfellow” said Rosemont Principal Anthony Mithen.

“Like Too Darn Hot, who we have strongly supported in 2024, he is a highly rated, Group One Winning 2yo by the world’s #1 sire of sires Dubawi and from a phenomenal female family”, added Mithen.

A flawless, unbeaten juvenile campaign culminated in an eye-catching five-length win of the Group 1 €400k Goffs National Stakes 7f, leaving the likes of Bucanero Fuerte - an effortless Gr.1 Winner at his previous start - trailing in his wake.

“Special colt. A real natural 2yo. He can cruise at high speed and then rapidly accelerate” said trainer Aidan O’Brien following the race.

By winning the National, Henry Longfellow emulated his illustrious sire who also won the same Gr.1 event as an undefeated 2yo.

“Henry Longfellow ended the 2023 season 2nd only to City Of Troy as Europe’s Highest Rated 2yo. His Timeform Rating of 120+ compares equally to Australia’s best 2yo’s in recent years; Shinzo-120, Farnan-122, Anamoe-120+ & Stay Inside-122+”, stated Mithen.

Dam MINDING is considered Galileo’s greatest ever daughter. A European Champion 2 & 3yo, she won seven Gr.1’s and is regarded by O’Brien as the best filly ever trained out of Ballydoyle. Furthermore, grand-dam LILLIE LANGTRY is a multiple Gr.1 Winning superstar 2 & 3yo herself.

At Three, Henry Longfellow showed the class and determination worthy of his pedigree in putting up elite performances in the Gr.1 St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, going down by a short neck to the season’s leading 3YO miler Rosallion and again when running a strong third in the messily run Gr.1 WFA Prix Du Moulin behind 2024’s Champion Older Miler Charyn.

Henry Longfellow (IRE) will be priced at $22,000.

Mithen explains how Rosemont have been eager to introduce a sire-line that has now gained serious momentum in Australia and has outlined the horse will be heavily supported from both Rosemont & Coolmore mares.

"Sons of Dubawi have really set the industry alight and his legacy as a breed-shaping stallion is proving every post a winner with eight of his sons having already sired Gr.1 winners of their own including Night Of Thunder, Too Darn Hot, Zarak & New Bay.

“Given the 2yo impact stallions such as Too Darn Hot & Night Of Thunder - also ex Galileo mare - have had in Australia particularly with Danehill line mares, it made sense for us to target a high-quality 2yo son of Dubawi to stand in Victoria.”

Henry Longfellow will be covering a full book of mares in the Northern Hemisphere & has been met with overwhelming support – impressing both breeders and buyers alike.

“First impressions when I first saw him I thought for sure this is a £2 Million yearling. Just all quality in movement, balance, hind leg. You can see both elements of Dubawi & Galileo there. I really like him”, declared Laurent Benoit (Broadhurst Agency).

Henry Longfellow will stand in Australia at the exceptional introductory value of $22,000 inc GST (Payment On Live Foal)
