Zoustar Filly a Standout for Twin Hills

Sponsored Content - by Tara Madgwick - Monday February 24

The team at Twin Hills Stud are prepared to be busy at Inglis Premier this week presenting a diverse draft of 25 by 24 different stallions and they include champion sire Zoustar, who has a filly to be offered that is bred on a nick that spells stakes success!

A proven sire of stakes-winners all over the world and the leading sire of global winners in 2024, Zoustar is working towards his first Australian Sires Title and if there is one thing that further enhances his success rate it’s his nick with Fastnet Rock mares.

The nick runs at 80% winner to runner and 12% SW to runner with seven stakes-winners bred this way headed by his Group I winning fillies Zougotcha, Joliestar and Climbing Star and interestingly all seven of the SW’s are fillies.

Zoustar filly from Ilphare (IRE).

Twin Hills will offer Lot 211 and this Zoustar filly from blueblood imported Fastnet Rock mare Ilphare (IRE) fits the profile and as a November foal will just keep improving.

She is the second foal of an unraced sister to Group I winner Rivet, Group II winner Booming Delight and half-sister to Group III winner Packing Tycoon and to the dam of stakes-winner Moll. Ilphare is also closely related to Fastnet Rock’s triple Group I winning mare One Master with numerous other feature winners in the family including imported Australian Group I winner December Draw.

“This is a filly that has been classy from the day she was born,” said Olly Tait.

“She is out of a mare that we bought in England from a family that William Haggas and Lester Piggott developed. She has plenty of size with a lovely head and shoulder. She doesn’t look like she will be an early type, but she is certainly bred to scale the heights.”

Lot 39 Colt Written By x Anyana (GB), by Nathaniel

By a proven speed sire from a well bred unraced import from a German Black Type family that has had three foals to race and all are winners including the promising John O’She and Tom Charlton trained three year-old Kenmare Bay.

Written By is doing well with his first crops with horses like The Playwright and Straight Charge. This is a lengthy colt that moves well. He is medium sized and correct.

Lot 146 Colt Ole Kirk x Dominant Lady, by I Am Invincible

From the second crop of Champion 3YO Ole Kirk, now the leading first season sire by earnings with two SW’s King Kirk and O’Ole. First foal of a winning daughter of stakes-winner Sensible Lady (USA).

This is a colt with plenty of physique and a nice swagger when he walks. He is bred to be fast and looks it. Ole Kirk really couldn’t be off to a better start with his first 2 year olds and I Am Invincible mares have produced G1 winners Asfoora and Kimochi and SW’s this season Field of Play and Dance to the Boom.

Lot 165 Colt Stay Inside x Fadetta (USA), by Rock Hard Ten

From the first crop of Golden Slipper winner Stay Inside and is a half-brother to two winners from an unraced half-sister to Group I winner Seek Again from Group I winner Light Jig.

The first yearlings by Stay Inside have sold incredibly well, which is not surprising given his resume. This is a nice colt with plenty of scope and a good walk. He has an outstanding Juddmonte pedigree.

Lot 177 Colt Toronado (IRE) x Frankly Savvy (NZ), by Savabeel

By outstanding sire Toronado and is the second foal of a winning sister to Group III winner Certainly and half-sister to SW Ocean Beyond tracing in tail female line to fourth dam Golden Slipper winner Courtza.

This is a beautifully bred colt who has the looks to match. He is a well balanced, athletic horse with plenty of scope. He is an obvious candidate for Hong Kong but his profile suggests he could reach an elite level wherever he races.

Lot 555 Filly So You Think x Wednesday (GB), by Night of Thunder

By champion racehorse and elite sire So You Think and is the second foal of an unraced blueblood import tracing to blue hen Modena.

This filly comes from an outstanding Juddmonte family and Her 2 year old half brother by Kingman is in training with Matthew Smith. She has been a classy horse since the day she was born. Naturally, she’ll take a bit of time but she has a lovely action, plenty of scope and an attractive head.
