Godolphin win G3 Triscay with Zoustar Mare

Tara Madgwick - Saturday February 15

Godolphin don’t purchase many yearlings, but one that they did is four year-old Zoustar mare Inhibitions and she ended a frustrating run of stakes placings to win her first stakes race when taking out the $250,000 Group III ATC Triscay Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on Saturday and she has a full sister headed to Inglis Easter.

Trained by James Cummings and ridden by Kerrin McEvoy, Inhibitions had race fitness over some of her key rivals and with a hectic pace in front she was able to finish off hard when she needed to and had enough left to hold off late closer and race favourite Clear Thinking with the unlucky Commemorative (also Godolphin) in third place.

James Cummings was thrilled to get the all important stakes win for Inhibitions, who has the overall record of  five wins and 11 placings from 25 starts woth prizemoney just shy of $700,000.

"It's a plan well pulled off. Interesting that Dominic (Beirne) throughout the week actually had them flipped on the prices, he thought that Inhibitions was twice the chance of Commemorative, so it's good that we pulled off the plan,” said James Cummings.

"She's now a stakes winner, a valuable filly by Zoustar who was purchased at the sales. (Godolphin managing director) Andy Makiv actually picked her out and she'll just go on to be part of our broodmare band in the future.

"It's a good result for the farm. Both mares in the race are stakes winners but I've got a feeling there's a little bit more ahead of both of them."

A $380,000 Inglis Easter purchase from Kitchwin Hills, Inhibitions was bred by Neil Werrett and is a half-sister to stakes-placed Lubrication being the bets of three winners from stakes-placed Fastnet Rock mare Workdrinks.

Workdrinks is a daughter of the Group III Keith Nolan Classic winner Slapstick, a three-quarter sister to dual Group I winner Virage de Fortune and multiple Group III winner Avenue.

Workdrinks sadly passed away last year and her final foal is a yearling filly by Zoustar that will be offered in the draft of North Bloodstock at Inglis Easter as Lot 260.

Inhibitions is the 63rd stakes-winner for Zoustar and is his seventh stakes-winner from a daughter of Fastnet Rock with the SW to runner strike rate at 12%.
