Stars Align for Inhibitions - Half-Brother at Easter

Mark Smith - Friday February 17

The Racing And Sports Maiden hcp (1200m) for two-year-olds at Canterbury on Friday proved a tough watch for supporters of the heavily backed Vomo Island while connections of Inhibitions were counting their blessings.

Ridden by Kerrin McEvoy for James Cummings, Inhibitions had Chad Scofield on Vomo Island locked away behind the leader Lady Jezam and ensured he stayed there.

A $380,000 purchase for Godolphin from the Kitchwin Hills draft at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, the daughter of Zoustar defeated the Dundeel colt Vomo Island by a neck with a further three-quarter length back to the Dundeel colt Tannhauser in third.

Inhibitions was a well-beaten fourth behind Don Corleone when on debut at Randwick on January 21.

Assistant trainer Darren Beadman admitted the breaks went their way.

“It was a ten out of ten ride and needed to be,” Beadman said.

“It was a game effort by the filly. She showed a lot of fight and was strong when needed. She might have copped one over the head but still fought on strong.

“It was an excellent tactical ride by Kerrin and a solid performance by the filly.

“James and the team have done a fabulous job with the two-year-olds. She’s not homebred. She was bought at the Inglis sales for $380,000, so ticks all around for the sales team.

Bred by Neil Werrett, Inhibitions is the second winner from as many foals for the stakes-placed Fastnet Rock mare Workdrinks. Her first foal, the $400,000 I Am Invincible colt Lubrication,  broke his maiden at Doomben at his most recent start.

A $460,000 yearling Workdrinks is a daughter of the Group III Keith Nolan Classic winner Slapstick (Anabaa), a three-quarter sister to dual Group 1 winner Virage de Fortune and multiple Group III winner Avenue.

Kitchwin Hills consigns a Yes Yes Yes colt from Workdrinks to the Ingis Australian Easter Yearling Sale in April (Lot 455).

After foaling a Street Boss (USA) filly last spring, Workdrinks revisited Zoustar.
