$340,000 Filly Sets New Benchmark for Lucky Vega

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday February 11

The deeds of brilliant stakes-winning Lucky Vega (IRE) filly Within the Law have not gone unnoticed with the second crop progeny of her sire proving a lot more popular at the yearling sales this year and he had a big result at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale on Tuesday morning when a filly from Queen Iseult sold for $340,000.

Bred and offered for sale by Yulong, as was Within the Law, this filly was bought by Astute Bloodstock / Mystery Downs / Curtis Racing and is the first foal of her dam Queen Iseult.

An unraced daughter of champion sire Fastnet Rock, Queen Iseult is a half-sister to Group I winner Silent Sedition from the family of Group I winners Porto Roca  and Group I Dubai World Cup winner Monterosso.

Queen Iseult had a filly last year by Alabama Express and was then covered by Yulong’s first season Japanese horse Diatonic (Jpn).

The first crop of yearlings for Lucky Vega received only a lukewarm reception selling for up to $160,000 with eight fetching $100,000 or more across all sales with 50 sold in total, but his progeny have been well in demand at Inglis Classic so far with all five offered so far selling for $100,000 or more.

This year buyers are a lot more switched on to him and will be pleased to note there are 13 for Inglis Premier and seven for Magic Millions Adealaide.
