Hong Kong Calling - $350,000 for Star Turn Colt

Tara Madgwick - Sunday February 9

With nine winners from 12 starters in Hong Kong, it’s not surprising Star Turn is a target sire for Hong Kong buyers with a cracking colt by the Vinery Stud based sire selling for $350,000 at Inglis Classic on Sunday to the trainer of Group I HK International Mile winner Voyage Bubble.

$350,000 Star Turn colt from Cocoexcel.

Ricky Yiu is no stranger to finding success from the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale with his current champion miler Voyage Bubble sourced from Riverside Stables back in 2020 when he topped the sale at $380,000.

This time he warmed to the flashy chestnut colt consigned by Vinery Stud from metropolitan winning Exceed and Excel mare Cocoexcel, who has had three foals to race and all are winners.

The colt is a full brother to smart Hong Kong winner Beauty Destiny, who has won three of his past four starts and Harry Roach of Vinery Stud always felt Hong Kong  would be where this colt would end up.
