Impressive Debut for Zoustar Colt

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday March 14
Australia's leading first season sire Zoustar added another impressive debut winner to his tally on Wednesday with a first up Warwick Farm success for the Chris Waller trained colt Lean Mean Machine.

Unbeaten in winning his only two previous trials in Feabruary and early March, Lean Mean Machine took that good form smoothly towards race day.

Lean Mean Machine as a yearlingPartnered by Blake Shinn, he settled off the pace and surged home out wide to score a dominant three-quarter length in in the 1000 metre maiden.

"He's a very professional horse and has a bright future for some great connections," said Chris Waller, who trained his sire Zoustar to multiple Group I wins.

"He's an impressive individual when you see him in the parade, a real classic style of colt.

"We'll see how he comes through this run. I don't think we'll have any trouble finding nice races for him."

A $250,000 Magic Millions Yearling purchase from the Glenlogan Park draft for Aquis, Blue Sky Bloodstock/Raffles Racing who race the colt in partnership, Lean Machine carried the Raffles colours on debut.

Bred and offered for sale by Glenlogan, he is the second winner for juvenile stakes-winners She's Meaner, a half-sister by Falvelon to $1.3 million earner and sire Love Conquers All from Group I winner She's a Meanie.

Lean Mean Machine is the last foal from She's Meaner, who died in 2016.

He is the third winner for Zoustar joining leading Golden Slipper contender and Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Sunlight and metropolitan winning colt Zousain.
