Mullaglass Stud – Classic Six to Shine

Dr Richard McClenahan, his wife Kim and their team can expect to be busy at Inglis Classic this week with a cracking draft of 16 yearlings by 14 different sires offering a mix of the promising and proven.

Mullaglass Stud sold at Inglis Classic last year for the first time under their own brand achieving great success in selling 16 yearlings for $1,775,500 with their best result a Justify (USA) filly from Islay Inlet (Can) that made $420,000.

It was a pleasing debut for the farm and another step in their evolution to becoming a commercial force after starting along this path back in 2014 at this sale when selling an I Am Invincible colt from Volkaspray in the draft of Dartbrook Downs Thoroughbreds for $95,000.

He would go on to become Group I winning sire Hellbent and his success paved the way to a future that now sees Mullaglass Stud presenting 16 youngsters, click here for the full draft with highlights below:

Lot 172 Filly Farnan x Dorotea, by Lope de Vega (IRE)

From the second crop of Farnan and is bred on the exact same cross as his star colt North England, winner of the $1million ATC Golden Gift and also from a daughter of champion Irish sire Lope de Vega. Half-sister to stakes-placed Robrick and metro winner Senorita Dorotea from an unraced half-sister to stakes-winner Just as Sharp from a female family tracing back to fourth dam Champion 3YO Filly Triscay.

Lot 457 Colt Tassort x Motown Melody, by Commands

By red hot young sire Tassort and is a half-brother to two metro winners from metro winning half-sister to stakes-winner California Cat.

Lot 517 Filly Capitalist x Personality Plus, by Husson (Arg)

By proven G1 sire Capitalist and is the second foal of a grand-daughter of stakes-winner Personify, the dam of Group I VRC Oaks winner Personal. From the family of Champion South African Sprinter Laissefaire with fourth dam blue hen Procrastinate.

Lot 525 Colt Dundeel x Pipiana (NZ), by Highly Recommended

By proven G1 sire Dundeel and is third foal of stakes-placed Pipiana, who traces back to Group II winner Society Bay with the family producing Group I winners Tyzone and Final Destination.

Lot 621 Filly St Mark’s Basilica (Fr) x Sensibility, by Redoute’s Choice

From the first crop of 2021 European Horse of the Year St Mark’s Basilica and is a half-sister to five winners, three of them metro winners, from Group I placed Sensibility, a three-quarter sister to Group II winner Running Tall.

Lot 622 Colt Ole Kirk x Sensitivity by I Am Invincible

From the second crop of Champion 3YO Ole Kirk, already the sire of two SW’s O’Ole and King Kirk. Second foal of a winning daughter of Group I placed Sensibility, the dam of the previous yearling.
