Six G1 Mares Entered for Coolmore Classic

A sextet of Group I winners, as well as a host of other Group-performed females, are set to clash in Saturday's $600,000 Group I Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill.

Alizee,Egg Tart,Foxplay,Silent Sedition, Aide Memoire, and Heavens Above (image Steve Hart) are among 23 nominations for the fillies and mares quality.

Heavens Above won the G1 Coolmore Classic last yearWith the rail in the true position, the field limit has been set at 20 plus four emergencies.

Six of the runners from last year's Coolmore Classic, including the trifecta of Heavens Above, Silent Sedition and Danish Twist, have been entered for the 2018 edition.

The weights for the Coolmore Classic will be determined on Tuesday, before final acceptances on Wednesday.

The meeting, which marks the beginning of the 2018 Golden Slipper carnival, will stage six other stakes races – the Group II Ajax Stakes (1500m), Group II Phar Lap Stakes (1500m), Group III Magic Night Stakes (1200m), Group III Pago Pago Stakes (1200m), Group III Sky High Stakes (2000m), and Group III Maurice McCarten Stakes (1100m).

On Monday morning the track was officially rated a good (4) with mostly fine weather predicted until Saturday.
