Zoustar Debut 2YO Winner at Grafton

Tara Madgwick - Monday January 27

Juveniles foaled and raised at Segenhoe Stud have had an impressive winning run this season, think Wodeton, Cherish Me, Rivellino and Kujenga with Zoustar filly Zumbo adding her name to the list with a debut victory at Grafton on Monday of all places.

Not offered for sale, Zumbo is a homebred for Segenhoe and partners that was leased to Scone trainer Brett Cavanough and his wife and she was a very short priced favourite for the 1000m juvenile event.

With two trials last month to have her ready for race day, Zumbo gave Ben Looker an easy steer to find the fence and lead before kicking on to win by a length.

Zumbo is the second foal and first winner for stakes-placed Fastnet Rock mare Panna Cotta, a sibling to Group III winners Serene Majesty, Ducasse and stakes-winner Curdled.

The third foal from Panna Cotta is a filly by Home Affairs that will be offered by Lime Country Thoroughbreds at Inglis Classic as Lot 507.

Panna Cotta had a colt by Dundeel last spring and was then covered by Tassort.

Zoustar is the sire of Zumbo.

Zumbo is the second juvenile winner this season for Zoustar joining Space Rider and he is also the sire of Price Tag, who was second in the Group III MRC Blue Diamond Preview last Saturday.
