New 2YO Stakes Winner for Spirit Of Boom in Quickfire Double

Craig Tompson - Saturday January 25

Moments after Spirit Of Boom sired his season leading seventh 2YO winner with Gin Spirit in Adelaide for Lindsay Park, he got his first 2YO stakes winner of the season when stablemate Shining Smile won the Listed MRC Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) for colts at Sandown-Lakeside.

Shining Smile was the third of Spirit of Boom’s season 2YO winners back in November and was resuming on Saturday where Daniel Stackhouse made full use of his rails gate to hold his position just off the lead and the youngster pulled out too much in the straight to beat Yamashita's Gold (Wootton Bassett) by 1.8 lengths with Bermondsey (Hanseatic) third.

“He feels a lot stronger, he’s a lot more cheeky today,” said Stackhouse.

“I just wanted to hold my position. Didn’t want a hard luck story.

“He went through his gears once we got down the dip and he just powered away.

“He has strengthened up a lot both physically and mentally. He’s such a beautiful strong little bugger.”

Shining Smile was a $160,000 purchase for Boomer Bloodstock (FBAA) from the Robyn Wise draft at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast National Weanling Sale.

Bred

by Scott Seamer, Shining Smile is the fourth winner from seven to race for the unraced Canny Lad mare Nataya Rose.

Nataya Rose is a half-sister to stakes-placed Gold Anthem, the dam of Gold Anthem, and a half to Gold Chant, the dam of Amicus.

Nataya Rose’s granddam National Song is a half-sister to AJC Australian Oaks heroine Circles Of Gold, the dam of Elvstroem and Haradasun.

Shining Smile has a half-brother by Zousain set to sell at Inglis Classic with Robyn Wise as Lot 470.

Earlier at Morphettville, Gin Spirit (2f Spirit Of Boom x Premeditated (Commands)) had won on debut for Lindsay Park.

A $210,000 purchase for Lindsay Park Racing from the Bell River Thoroughbreds draft at the MM Gold Coast Yearling Sale, she beat La Reine (King's Legacy) by 1.5 lengths with Macclesfield (Astern) third.

Shining Smile is the 28th SW for Eureka Stud's Spirit of Boom.
