Tony Gollan Strikes Again with Another Inglis Digital Bargain

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday January 22

Still basking in the glory of winning the $1million Magic Millions Snippets last Friday with I Am Invincible gelding Zarastro, Tony Gollan was back in the winner’s circle at Doomben on Wednesday with another Inglis Digital purchased son of I Am Invincible.

Three year-old Wanganeen started life as a $400,000 Magic Millions purchase for Suman Hedge Bloodstock (FBAA)/Rosemont Alliance and was given to Gollan to train for the Rosemont Alliance partners, who are on the quest for stallion prospects.

Two unplaced runs at the back end of last season on wet ground saw his owners ready to jump ship and Wanganeen was offered on Inglis Digital August (early) last year selling for just $9,500 and was returned to Gollan to race in the same colours as Zarastro, who was also sourced through Inglis Digital and has been a runaway success, read about him here.

Wanganeen stepped out on Wednesday for the first time for his new owners and led all the way  for Angela Jones to win the 1200m maiden by half a length to the great delight of his connections.

Bred by Rosemont Stud, Wanganeen is the first winner for Group placed Exceed and excel mare True Excelsior, a grand-daughter of Group I winner Diamond Lover, the dam of Group I winners Don Eduardo and Tristalove, the dam of Group I winner Viking Ruler with this branch of the Eight Carat family also producing Group I winners Viscount and De Beers.

True Excelsior has a yearling filly by Zoustar and produced a colt by Blue Point (IRE) last spring.
